Some Other Questions
What made you decide you wanted to be in a long-distance relationship? I never decided to be in a long-distance relationship. My significant other just happens to live right across the ocean…
How does it usually make you feel? Mostly, I just want to be able to be with her. Sometimes it’s unbearable, it makes me feel insecure because I can’t be with her. But she’s worth it.
Are there any songs that remind you of them? We have some songs. Our “main theme” is For Good from Wicked.
Ever feel unable to believe you’re in a real relationship because of it? No, never. I don’t have to always see my girl to know I’m in a relationship with her - though I would prefer being with her of course. But it never made me doubt the real-ness of what we have.
Do you ever feel angry or stressed because of the distance? Yes… sometimes…
Do you ever take it out on your significant other? *sighs* Unfortunately yes. I try not to but sometimes I just can’t help it… and it makes me feel bad.
Are you ever jealous of local couples? So/so. I wish I could be with my girl when I see other couples but… I’m trying not to think too much about it.
What are the advantages of a long-distance relationship? I really think you get to know that person better. You talk way more because that’s all you can do. You fall in love with who the person is.
What are the disadvantages? I can’t be there for her when she needs me. I can’t just kiss her when I feel like it or fall asleep. The physical contact is missing.
Do people have less faith in your relationship because of the distance? Luckily, I only have supportive friends.
Do you know when the next time you’ll see them is? In person, 27th of June latest. Via Skype: I don’t know… we don’t really skype anymore.
How do you usually talk to them? MSN or Skype.
Has the distance helped your relationship at all? Hmm… that’s a hard question… I don’t know… I guess it helped me meeting her. Since there are four years between us, I don’t know if we would’ve met/talked if we would live in the same town/city.
If so, in what ways? Uhm, I just answered that lol.
Do you find it hard to trust your significant other? No, I trust her.
Have you, or your significant other, ever taken advantage of the distance and lied? No.
Do you ever hope to live with your significant other? Yes. If everything works out, we might move in together in about a year if I get into college.
Do you hope to marry them? Yes, one day. I just hope that by then, marrying her will be legal in more States/countries.
Do you hope to have kids with them? Well, we talked about it and we would like to have/adopt two kids.
Do you think it’d be strange to finally have them with you, permanently? No, I lived with her for seven weeks and it was the best time and I just felt right.
Do you think there’s a chance of this happening? Yes, we’re optimistic about that happening.
How often do you cry over it? Often. Because as much as I believe that one day, we live together, there is still so much that can go wrong…
Would you ever break up with them because of the distance? Never. I would never want to lose her and especially not because of the distance. I honestly believe that “distance” is just a momentary problem that will be solved within the future.
What keeps you from ending it all? Duh, I’m not even thinking about ending it. I love her too much.
Overall, are you happy you’re in the relationship? Yes, she’s the best that happened to me. Of course, sometimes it’s hard and there are fights and jealousy but which relationship doesn’t have that?
Any advice for others in your situation? Never give up. As long as both of you love each other, you will overcome the distance and pain that goes with it. Sure, it’s not the easiest kind of relationship and you have to miss out on a lot of things but if everything works out in the end, you’ll have the partner of your life - maybe even the perfect person for you. Personally, I couldn’t even imagine, breaking up with her for a local relationship because there is no one like her. I want her, no one else.
